Rick Scott is floundering in his attempt to make excuses for denying health care to Florida's working poor in the wake of his meeting today with the U.S. Department Of Health & Human Services, who he's also suing with taxpayer dollars.
Watch him say in the video below that "LIP is a federal program for low income families," "LIP should not be going away," and then say he refuses to be "coerced into expanding ObamaCare" for those same low income families, all in the same breath.
Naturally, he also blames the need for a special session on the federal government, while clouding the facts. He and the GOP knew LIP was going away. They just included the funds in their budget plan anyway, and that's why it blew up in their faces. They created the mess they find themselves in now, and they know it.
Of course, the easy solution, the one that "low income families deserve," to quote Scott, would be to simply expand Medicaid, and he says "that's not going to happen."
I would say "you can't make this stuff up," but Scott does it on a regular basis.
