While the media has kept everyone distracted with the reality clown show that is Donald Trump, much of the focus has been taken off the rest of the GOP candidates. Whether you're in the camp who believes Trump will ride his frontrunner status all the way to a nomination, or you believe he'll flame out before then, there's a horror show in the making with the entire Republican Party right now that's in desperate need of your attention.
Sure, Trump has become the megaphone to the GOP's dog whistles, and he's calling attention to much of the ugliest they have to offer. But because he's getting so much air time, the rest are struggling to be heard, and the results are not pretty. So while the MSM is keeping you up to date with the latest developments between FOX and Trump, and clamoring for face time with The Donald aboard his private plane, and posing for selfies with him on his helicopter, you may be missing what the other extremists in the party have planned for you if they take back the White House.
Sure, we already know they want to kill your chances at affordable health care, but they also want to wipe out Social Security and Medicare, they're doing their best to make sure Iran gets a nuclear weapon as soon as possible by opposing the President's Iran deal that will prevent that, and of course, they want more wars, even though we're still trying to pay for their last ones. If we're treated to a third term of George W. Bush via Jeb! W. Bush, we'll not only get another war, but there's a good chance he'll let Wall Street kill the economy all over again too, and the rest of your life savings along with it.
Then there's the added bonus of suppressing the vote, because the GOP is aware they're currently polling about as high as the plague, and Florida's Rick Scott will no doubt be all over that problem as the governor of a swing state, faster than you can say "Katherine Harris." And to that end, there are other voters to clamp down on. They want to deport just about anyone with brown skin, and they're desperately trying to kill one of the biggest organizations that prevent abortions in this country, while pretending it does the opposite, because women voters: Planned Parenthood.
Which brings us to the subject of one Florida Senator Marco Rubio.
Because while debate watchers were focused on Donald Trump's one liners about Rosie O'Donnell and just how wonderful a President he would be because he's so darn wealthy and everyone loves him dontcha know, Rubio made some news of his own that may have been missed, but shouldn't be.
He's always been "pro-life," or rather "pro-pre-life," but he's upped his extremist game now that he's running for President, and it's a pretty scary revelation. Worse, he's not the only one.
Rubio said that he no longer thinks there should be any exceptions for allowing abortions, like rape or incest, and he used the example of a pregnant 15 year-old to make his case.
In his "Meet the Press" interview, Rubio ultimately said that while a woman has certain rights over her body, he believes in protecting the rights of an unborn child, even though he has sponsored anti-abortion legislation that contained exceptions in the past.
"Listen, you're 15 years old and you become pregnant and you're scared and you have your whole life ahead of you and you're facing this, that is a hard situation," Rubio said. "I tell people all the time, 'Don't pretend this is easy.' This is a difficult question. But when asked to make a decision between two very hard circumstances, I've personally reached the conclusion if I'm going to err, I'm going to err on the side of life, on the side of protecting a human being."
Rubio just won't protect this particular 15 year-old female human being. The young girl who is faced with this "hard situation" nevertheless will be forced to give birth, because Rubio has "personally reached the conclusion" that the choice is up to him, not the pregnant 15 year-old.
It's easy for Rubio to blow off the real life "difficulties" that face a pregnant 15 year-old as a man who's not involved personally, and has proven time and again he has no concept of reality.
It's easy for Rubio to blow off the real life "difficulties" while neglecting to mention that the 15 year-old didn't get pregnant all by herself, and therefore leave the father out of the discussion of responsibility entirely.
It's easy for Rubio to blow off the real life "difficulties" that come with forcing a 15 year-old to give birth whether she's equipped to do so or not, while Rubio's party is against any sort of "government handouts" for someone in that situation, like any form of public assistance, while also blocking her from getting health care when she can barely afford, say, school supplies, much less supporting a child, and on and on.
Frighteningly, Rubio's scenario isn't all that far fetched. An 11 year-old girl in Paraguay who was raped by her stepfather was forced to give birth recently for many of the same beliefs Rubio is citing.
And Rubio's not the only one in his party who's moving the extremist needle on abortion here either.
Scott Walker (R-ALEC-Koch) said even if the mother's life is in danger, he wouldn't allow any exceptions. None.
Mike Huckabee, the same man who excuses child molestation because "forgiveness" and because it was a Duggar who did the molesting, actually said he agreed with Paraguay's policy, so it's probably safe to assume that there's no age low enough to meet his "all life must be protected" cutoff.
This brings us to the realization of just how extreme the likes of Rubio and his fellow Republicans have become:
They will force a child to give birth with no exceptions for the life of the mother, rape, nor incest, simply because that child is no longer a fetus herself.
Do they have your attention now?
