Rick Scott Hears The Truth, Flees
Rick Scott loves to answer almost every question with some version of this:
"As I travel around this great state, people always ask me about jobs."
It doesn't matter what the question is, Scott just smiles and says "jobs," and it usually ends there because it only happens during interviews with the media, which he promptly ends if anyone presses him further or wants a follow up.
So savor the moment when Cara Jennings, not a member of the media, but one of those actual Floridians Scott always claims he chats with, skips the question and the potential follow up, and goes straight to an oral editorial when she notices Scott pop into the Starbucks where she was presumably enjoying the day before he graced the place with his presence:
"You cut Medicaid so I couldn't get Obamacare," Cara Jennings told the visibly shaken governor as he waited to pay for his coffee. "You're an asshole. You don't care about the working people. You should be ashamed to show your face around here."
"A million jobs?" Jennings responded. "Who here has a great job or looking forward to finishing school? Do you really feel like you have a job coming up?"
"You strip women of access to public healthcare. Shame on you, Rick Scott!"
And mic drop.
Needless to say, Scott suddenly found he didn't need the caffeine after all, and fled the Starbucks empty handed.
Jennings, a former Lake Worth City Commissioner, told the Palm Beach Post that she had been reading about the aforementioned law Scott signed last week that virtually defunded Planned Parenthood in the state, cutting off basic preventive health care for women along with access to abortion. She also said afterwards, “A number of people came up to me and thanked me.”
That's hardly surprising. Let me add myself to that list and say bravo, Ms. Jennings.
The entire exchange was captured on video by Stephen Bender.
