Yesterday Marco Rubio (R-ote talking points-FL) joined 47 of his Republican colleagues in the Senate and voted to kill Medicare after Democrats forced a vote on the budget bill. The bill failed, but it put the Republicans on the record in favor of throwing away Medicare as we know it and replacing it with a voucher plan that would force seniors and future seniors to search for their own health insurance on the open market. In other words:
"Here's a coupon. Good luck!"
All Democrats including Bill Nelson in the Senate voted against the bill, and all but five Republicans voted in favor of giving Medicare the ax. (Charles E. Schumer D NY, Kay Bailey Hutchison R TX and Pat Roberts R KS didn't vote.)
Republicans voting against the bill:
Scott P. Brown R MA
Susan Collins R ME
Olympia J. Snowe R ME
Lisa Murkowski R AK
Rand Paul R KY
