Quick Poll: Is Ted Cruz Incredibly Simple-Minded And Uninformed, Yes Or No?

You know the tried and true, well heeded bit of advice for lawyers: Never ask a question you don't already know the answer to? Well, Ted Cruz apparently slept through that discussion in law school, because he tried that with a question about the Affordable Care Act on Facebook, and failed miserably. He also proved the point that no made up "horror story" by his ilk can compare to reality for those who lived with the true health care horror stories before "Obamacare" became a law.

Here is Ted Cruz on Facebook, believing what he and those living in a bubble with him are telling people about ACA, that it's just as bad as they say it is:

Not only was the overwhelming response a "Yes!" but those responses came from people who were so much better off with ACA than before that they couldn't wait to give him all the details on why. People were happy to share personal stories and provide examples of how well the law is already working, how much they were saving, and how easy it was to debunk all the "horror stories" that Cruz, the GOP, Conservatives, and FOX  have been harping about for as long as the law has existed. (Read the responses to his question from March 24 for yourself here before they disappear.)

By asking this question, the King Of Fake Filibusters actually may have helped to up enrollment numbers for anyone who may have been on the fence and read some of these stories. It's also yet another reminder that he and the GOP were willing to destroy the nation's economy and shut down the government just to keep those who are better off with ACA than they were before from, well, being better off. 

So thank you Sen. Cruz, for helping more people see how good "Obamacare" really is. Well done!

Next time, instead of Green Eggs And Ham, maybe Cruz can read The Boy Who Cried Wolf to an empty room.

Rick Scott continues to ignore the fact that Republicans in the legislature refuse to even discuss Medicaid expansion as the money goes to other states for theirs.

He continues to bash "Obamacare."

The Florida GOP has all but based their entire message against Charlie Crist on his embrace of the Affordable Care Act.

Amid all that, and all the barriers they've put up trying to block Floridians from access to health care, they continue to ignore reality: It isn't just President Obama, Democrats, and Charlie Crist who like The Affordable Care Act. The public likes it too. A lot. So much so that it set a new record today for those who have signed up: Six million.

In spite of his trying to ignore it, the racist joke controversy in Rick Scott's campaign isn't going away. It's getting bigger, and the "we're a diverse organization" band-aid he tried to cover the wound up with failed to do the trick. Because repeating that you're diverse when you clearly aren't over and over again won't fly. Voters aren't as stupid as Scott and the Florida GOP seem to believe.

With so many shovels, that hole Scott and the party are digging just keeps getting bigger every day.

It's hard to keep up, but here are some of the latest developments:

The $1 million donor who quit and started the ball rolling by publicly airing the Scott campaign's dirty laundry and tasteless jokes in the first place wrote a second email that made its way to Politico. This new email serves up a brand new dose of ugly:

Last week the Miami Herald revealed that Rick Scott lost the top fundraiser in his campaign over allegations that two campaign aides had "joked around in a cartoon-style Mexican accent en route to a Mexican restaurant."  Mike Fernandez, another billionaire health care CEO, quit after indicating this was among several frustrations he had with the Scott campaign. The official excuse, however, was the standard GOP reason for quitting just about everything: He left to spend more time with his family.

Sure.

More details have come out since that first report by the Herald, among them, various excuses and finger pointing in pursuit of damage control by the Scott campaign.

The Florida GOP REALLY Doesn't Want You To Have Access To Health Care

Will Weatherford blocked Medicaid for Floridians last year even though his own family benefited from it when they couldn't afford his brother's medical care. This year it isn't even up for consideration as far as he and Republicans are concerned. Even when Rick Scott claimed for a nanosecond that he was open to it, most assumed he wasn't serious, and he no doubt knew it had no chance anyway because of GOP opposition.

As for health care in general, and "Obamacare" in particular, Republicans are going all out in Florida to convince everyone that the Affordable Care Act is bad, (or "toxic," the current GOP buzzword) and no one wants health care, which makes no sense and has no basis in reality. Because in the Republican bubble, facts don't matter.

Case in point, the current GOP Twitter bombing of Obamacare (with bonus mocking of other Democrats, like Charlie Crist and Nancy Pelosi) in Florida, facts be damned:

Florida Dis-CONNECT: Failure's Not Only An Option, It's A Plus

The man at the helm of Florida's botched CONNECT website is being rewarded for blocking benefits from the unemployed for months:

On Monday, Jesse Panuccio, the executive director of the Department of Economic Opportunity, won his second round of confirmation to his $141,000 job with an 11-0 vote by the Senate’s Commerce and Tourism Committee.

Four Democrats and seven Republicans approved  Panuccio’s confirmation -- which some hoped would provide him a chance to instruct others on complicated technical issues.

Unanimous. 11-0. Even Democrats are saying "job well done." Because why not? It's Florida, where we don't do "accountability."

 

It's understandable that Republicans would say "He's our man" to the guy who couldn't CONNECT the unemployed with their benefits for months because of his failed, revamped website which now requires online application. It makes perfect sense for the party that loathes the unemployed as much as the poor and uninsured to say "I'm not just going to support you, I'm going to do everything I can in the process to make sure you get to the end" to the man whose website failed miserably. Especially when it cost taxpayers more to fix the mess, and he'll be paid $141,000 a year for his trouble.

 

But Democrats? What's their excuse?

The Republicans in Florida have really outdone themselves this time.

We've all heard their baseless excuse that we just can't afford to expand Medicaid, even though it would mean the state would get $51 million from the government that would give over 800,000 of the poorest Floridians access to health care. (Never mind that they do apparently feel they can afford to send our tax dollars to other states for the same purpose.)

The same lawmakers, in concert with Rick Scott, have written barriers to access for health insurance enrollment into law, and done everything in their power to block affordable health care for average Floridians, keeping us nearly at the top of the list for the highest rate of uninsured in the country.

Given all their anti-health care efforts, it may come as a surprise to many that those same Republicans DO feel we can afford to pour $5 million into turning Florida into a top-tier health care medical tourism destination:

Rick Scott Flip-Flops On Immigration, Just In Time For His Re-Election Campaign

Rick Scott is running for re-election, which of course means he's pandering. His latest election season flip-flop? Immigration.

In the past he favored Arizona's strict "papers please" immigration laws and blocked children of illegal immigrants from obtaining a driver's licence, among other related issues.

Now that he's up for re-election and still bogged down by poll numbers that barely saw daylight for his entire term, he's suddenly "concerned" about immigration again. His latest proposal is the opposite of his former policy. Now he wants students who are here illegally to qualify for in-state college tuition: 

What Really Happened To That Missing $500,000 Donation To Rick Scott's Campaign?

Earlier this month Rick Scott's "Let's Get To Work" fund made some changes and the funds were transferred to a new political committee with different rules for use of that money. But somewhere along the way in that transfer, a donation of $500,000 from Florida Crystals to Let's Get To Work, went missing:
